Content warnings: racism, physically intimate moments, reference to sex work and trafficking

Esther is a 35-year-old, talented Black seamstress in 1905 New York sought out by socialites and sex workers alike because of her gift for creating exquisite lingerie. Throughout the years Esther has not only gained quite the reputation but also has amassed a generous amount of wealth; however, she longs for connection and companionship in an ever-changing world. As she seeks fulfillment in surprising places, Esther learns to navigate complex relationships in a story that weaves together themes of race, class, intimacy, and yearning in an ever-changing city.
